Charlotte GERARDS

Born in Maaseik, Belgium, 1961, Charlotte graduated as a commercial engineer and
actuary at the University of Louvain in Belgium, 1986.

She started painting at school in her free time at the age of 12. She graduated from the local Children Art Institute in Maaseik in 1976. Then her painting was put on hold until she moved to China in 1998.

She worked one year at IBM in Stockholm, Sweden. Afterwards she traveled end 1987 around the world with her backpack, including stopovers in Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Australia, New Zeeland, Fiji, Hawaii, and USA.

She got fascinated by China and returned back in the beginning of 1998 until the end of 1999. Living in China inspired her to paint again.

Back in Belgium she took painting classes from 2000 until 2002. Then she moved back to Shanghai in March 2002. She now is having art classes from a Chinese painter in Shanghai.

Her artistic works have been taken part in some Belgian art exhibitions. Her work is displayed in Canada, USA, India, Germany, The Netherlands, Sweden, Italy ,France and Belgium. Recently some works were sold in China and Australia .

She likes bright colors and tries to combine colors in her own personal way. Her work makes life more colorful.

Her works are on permanent display in Light Scene Art and Light Gallery in Shanghai.
